Creating a Ripple Effect - The Power of One

Sometimes we are told by a grateful client, a friend or a family member that
our words or our actions have changed their life. Most days we endeavour to
just do whatever we can to make a difference and some days we care too
much or feel too much and are left feeling helpless, drained or unappreciated.

Denise will speak about the impact that one person had on her life and the ripple effect of that chance meeting,
someone who trained her in the healing power of the mind after a life threatening illness.
That one person has also touched our lives as well, Dekyi-Lee Oldershaw.

She will also share her experiences as an art therapist, artist and researcher working in the community with
disadvantaged people. From this work she became aware of the need for diligent self-care and debriefing strategies.

Denise talk will also include a mini experiential workshop called “The Value of Playfulness for Self-Care”.

Denise Dillon Bolland is an expert in the field of creativity, narrative and
playfulness. Using a range of innovative techniques, including art and
transformative mindfulness methods (TMM) she companions women as they
access their passion, release their fears and explore the possibilities of living
life boldly. Her areas of research includes such topics as how women
navigate change, live with uncertainty, build resilience, and address feelings
of hopelessness, hope, shame and guilt.

Denise is unique as she is one of the first people ever trained in Transformative Mindfulness Methods by Dekyi-Lee Oldershaw more than 20 years ago and recently re-certified in these methods through a joint certification from the University of Toronto and Transformative Mindfulness International.

We look forward to having you join us for this very special event!

There will be a donation box at the entrance, and we welcome any contribution you’d like to offer (which helps cover the cost of space rental). All are welcome.
